Biosurfactants: The green generation of speciality chemicals and potential production using Solid-State fermentation (SSF) technology

نویسندگان

چکیده

Surfactants are multipurpose products found in most sectors of contemporary industry. Their large-scale manufacturing has been mainly carried out using traditional chemical processes. Some the species involved their production considered hazardous and some industrial processes employing them categorised as “having potential negative impact on environment”. Biological surfactants have therefore generally accepted worldwide suitable sustainable greener alternatives. Biosurfactants exhibit same functionalities synthetic analogues while having ability to synergize with other molecules improving performances; this strengthens possibility reaching different markets via innovative formulations. Recently, use was suggested help combat Covid-19. In review, an analysis recent bibliography is presented descriptions, statistics, classifications, applications, advantages, challenges; evincing reasons why biosurfactants can be specialities future. Finally, uses solid-state fermentation a technology for presented.

Optimizing Cellulase Production from Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) using Solid State Fermentation (SSF)

Municipal solid waste (MSW) management is one of the key topics in environmental protection [1]. In England, around 23.7 million tons of household waste was generated in 2009/10, which equates to 1036 Kg per household [2]. The current technologies for MSW treatment are incineration, landfill, composting and anaerobic digestion. Recently, anaerobic conversion of MSW into biogas has attracted gro...

Solid State Fermentation for Production of Chitosan by Aspergillus Niger

The effect of Solid State Fermentation (SSF) on Chitosan production by A. niger was investigated. A. niger BBRC 20004 from Biochemical and Bioenvironmental Research Centre of Sharif University of Technology (Tehran, Iran), was grown on corn residue. Chitosan was extracted from the fungal mycelia using hot alkaline and acid treatment. A. niger was incubated for 12 days on corn residue with moist...

Potential of solid state fermentation for production of ergot alkaloids.

Production of total ergot alkaloids by Claviceps fusiformis in solid state fermentation was 3.9 times higher compared to that in submerged fermentation. Production was equal in the case of Claviceps purpurea but the spectra of alkaloids were advantageous with the use of solid state fermentation. The data establish potential of solid state fermentation which was not explored earlier for producti...

Potential of solid-state fermentation for laccase production

Solid-state fermentation (SSF) processes involve the growth of microorganisms (typically fungi) on a solid material in the absence or near absence of free-flowing water. The wide range of solid materials used in SSF can be classified into two great categories: inert (synthetic materials) and non-inert (organic materials). The former only acts as an attachment place for the fungus, whereas the l...

Xylanase Production under Solid State Fermentation by Aspergillus niger

Central composite orthogonal design was applied to quantify relations  of xylanase production, loss of dry matter and change of pH with four critical variables during solid state fermentation of a mixture of wheat bran and wheat straw on which Aspergillus niger CCUG 33991 was cultivated. The studied variables included the percentage of wheat straw, temperature, moisture content, and fermentati...
